Welcome

This site is dedicated to helping you discover the richness and depth of a vital and growing relationship with Jesus by discussing the foundational basics of this relationship: Jesus, his love, and our response to both.

Without Jesus initiating this and making it possible, there could be no relationship. Without his love, he would not have bothered to make this a possibility. And without our acceptance of this gift that he freely offers, we avoid this relationship.

So, what is the answer? How does one keep it simple? By viewing everything through the lens of God’s love. That is the message from Jesus in Matthew 22:40, where he says that all teaching in the Bible is based on love.

Now, before you overcomplicate or oversimplify what this means, I ask that, at the very least, you ask yourself, “Would Jesus lie to us?” If the answer is yes, then why are we bothering with this at all? If the answer is no, then shouldn’t we give this some serious consideration?

So, join me in exploring what love is and what it is not (you will find the definitions of love, Christianity, and faith on our Mykitchen University page). Also, join me in considering that this applies to every teaching in the Bible, from the first verse in Genesis 1 through Romans, and all the way through the last verse of Revelation 22.

I have found that reading the Bible from the viewpoint of Matthew 22:40 has been instrumental in transforming me and my walk with Jesus. For I am learning more about who God is, who Jesus is. And following Jesus is becoming less and less about following rules and observing religious rituals and more and more about building a relationship with him, my Lord and Savior, friend and brother, and my king and judge.

To clarify, following him involves following rules and observing religious practices. Yet, these are done because he loves us, and in return, we love him. In other words, when love is recognized as the foundation, religious rules and practices are not merely expressions of a cold religion, but are warm expressions of a vital, growing, and abundantly enriching relationship. And that… is quite the difference.

This is an exciting adventure. I hope you choose to take it with me.
